ASIAN AMERICAN CULTURAL CENTER BASEMENT
In conjunction with the Hip Hop and Punk Feminisms symposium, we are holding a MakerSpace in the basement of the Asian American Cultural Center. This space will be open to the public from 9:00-5:00 Thursday and 9:00-12:00 Friday; supplies and volunteers will be on hand to help with the creation of zines and posters. Mekha McGuire will display her artwork, and Sarah Beth Woods and Fatima Traore will enact interactive performance art. Guided workshops include "Black Queer Feminist Beat Making" with Blair Smith and "Feminist PunkZine Making" with The Art Eddies, a group of art education doctoral students from the University of Illinois. Work from this space will be compiled with other documentation of the symposium into a zine that will be made available through our website.
